GRAMMAR SNACK: INFINITIVE OR GERUND?

The infinitive is the basic form of the verb and it is usually followed by to or not to.

We use it:

HALLOWEEN SHORT STORIES

HALLOWEEN is a date for many things: candy, fancy dresses, horror films and fun. It is also a time for telling stories: stories by Edgar Allan Poe such as The Tell-Tale Heart, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving or The Old Witch by The Brothers Grimm.  That's why we organize our I Halloween stories workshop. You'll have to create your own short story, a mixture of horror and fun, using all the words in a list and making one of the objects come to life.

Here is the list:

-Hounted House

- Broom

- Spider Web

- Pumpkin

-Black

PECHA KUCHA

Next Friday 25th of October, the Jofre theatre in Ferrol will hold the 9th PechaKucha Night. But, what exactly is a PechaKucha event?

PechaKucha Night was devised in Tokyo in February 2003 as an event for young designers to meet, network, and show their work in public. Each speaker will show 20 slides and will speak for 20 seconds about each slide.

'Do' for Activities

Use the verb 'do' to express daily activities or jobs. Notice that these are usually activities that produce no physical object.

do homework

do housework

do the ironing

do the dishes

'Do' for General Ideas

I hope you'll find this post useful when writing to your friends, colleagues or relatives. Enjoy!!

LAYOUT

In an informal letter we place the sender’s address, not the name, in the top right-hand corner of the page, and punctuation is rarely used these days.
